JOB PURPOSE:

The Title Attorney will have an opportunity for a leadership role in this growing title company which is affiliated with the DRB Group. The workload will be primarily transactional title insurance and real estate settlement work for both the DRB and non-DRB book of business.  Experience with residential or commercial real estate transactions is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential as the candidate will have regular interaction with principals in the transactions, as well as their agents, outside counsel and numerous other professional representatives. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experience with all facets of commercial and residential settlements, especially those involving new home construction and land/lot purchases
  • Review and opine on title matters, including review of abstracts and preparation of title commitments & policies
  • Responsible for the review, preparation, coordination and execution of essential settlement documents, including, but not limited to deeds, settlement statements and closing disclosure forms
  • Conduct real estate closings for both DRB and non-DRB customers
  • Advise senior leadership on the legal risks facing the title company on a day-to day basis
  • Oversee all legal and regulatory matters for title company to ensure full compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
  • Provide training to title company staff on legal and compliance matters
  • Research legal issues impacting the title company and its clients
  • Act as an escrow agent on certain transactions

  • Detailed understanding of RESPA, including the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures
  • Must have valid driver’s license for company business travel

 

Education and Work Experience

  • Juris Doctorate from a respected ABA accredited law school, admission to the Bar in Maryland
  • 2+ years of experience in real estate transactions, real estate law, title insurance and escrow closings
