KCW Engineering Technologies, Inc. is looking for a Survey Crew Chief for our Land Surveying Group in Glen Burnie, MD. In this role, you will perform various types of land surveys including but not limited to topographical, boundary/right-of-way, as-built, planimetric and ALTA/NSPS surveys.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand survey scope and execute a plan to complete the survey on time
  • Keep accurate field notes and sketches
  • Kickoff meeting to review project scope with survey team before, during and after project completion
  • Ability to solve problems in field and provide a solution
  • Mentor and train crew field personnel 
  • Must be proficient in the operation of Trimble total-stations/GPS and data-collectors
  • Perform mathematical computations/calculations in field

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to occasionally work as a one-person crew utilizing robotic and GPS equipment
  • A valid current drivers license
  • Physically able to lift 50 pounds, walk long distances across all terrains and work in all weather conditions. 
  • Perform topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys or similar experience
  • Adhere to proper procedures and methods to complete surveys
  • Knowledge and experience with Trimble survey equipment including maintenance, cleaning and adjusting survey instruments
  • Ability to work independently and without direct onsite supervision
  • Know how to use Microsoft Office Applications, Laptop
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be very punctual and reliable 

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

  • Certified Survey Technician Level I or above
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Instrument Man performing topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys or similar experience
  • Civil 3D/Carlson experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform field work and then process in the office, or the willingness to learn is a plus

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
